Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will Dr. Tregaskes be able to cure my pain 100%?

A: Every patient’s situation is different. We cannot guarantee 100% recovery, but with the proper treatment and patient compliance we can ensure a significant improvement of your symptoms.

Q: Will the orthotics move my teeth?

A: No. The orthotics are custom made from stone casts of your teeth, they actually act as a retainer if worn properly.

Q: How long is the first TMD appointment?

A: You can expect to be in our office for at least 2 hours. We have to allow time to complete the JVA, radiographs, a thorough dental exam, muscle palpations and plenty of time to discuss your medical/dental history with Dr. Tregaskes.

Q: I have both medical and dental insurance, is that going to help me here?

A: Though we do not participate with insurance, we will check to see if you have any out of network benefits. If so, you will be reimbursed for anything that’s covered.

Q: My pain is not that severe, at what point should I be seen by a specialist?

A: If you experience any of the signs or symptoms listed in the TMD/TMJ section it’s a good idea to be seen by a specialist. A minor annoyance now can potentially lead to a major problem in the future.
